From 29. October – 2. November 2017, the German Embassy in Cairo and several German Organizations organized a "Germany Festival in the Nile delta" including numerous cultural, scientific and information events in different governorates: Mansoura (29.10.), Shebin El Kom (30.10.), Damanhur (1.11.) and Alexandria (2.11).

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in cooperation with AUC Access to Knowledge for Development Research Center (A2K4D) organized a Regional Conference “Improving Public Transportation in the MENA Region”, which took place at American University in Cairo premises in Tahrir, Cairo from 1.-2. October 2017.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in cooperation with TU Berlin El Gouna organized a summer school/technical internship under the name of “Urban Lab Camp”, which took place at the TU Berlin Campus in El Gouna -Hurghada, from 22 July – 19 August 2017 for university graduates in urban development, energy engineering and water engineering.

The “Urban Lab Camp” Project in partnership with TU Berlin Campus El Gouna will equip students with the necessary skills to tackle not only technical matters but also complex societal issues such as the integration of renewable energies, the impact of climate change as well as informal settlements. The program highlights the relationship between community and environment in attempts to solidify a sustainable approach to human development.
