POLICY PAPER: Low-Emission Zones (LEZs) and Prerequisites for Sustainable Cities and Clean Air in Egypt

This policy paper aims to explain one of the successful measures that has proven significant reduction in transport-based emissions worldwide. It introduces the Low-Emission Zones (LEZs) concept in Egypt in a manner accessible to experts and non-experts alike. It aims to discuss the country’s position in terms of readiness to implement LEZs policies and recommend how to meet such ambitions. This policy paper is the outcome of the cooperation between the FES (Egypt Office), The Center for Environment and Development for the Arab World and Europe, and the Egyptian Ministry of Environment. This publication is bilingual (Arabic and English).
