Conference: The role of NGOs in social protection work

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Egypt office in cooperation with Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS) organized a conference on “The role of NGOs in social protection work”, which took place at Hotel Sofitel in Cairo from 13.-14. March 2017.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Egypt office in cooperation with Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS) organized a conference on “The role of NGOs in social protection work”, which took place at Hotel Sofitel in Cairo from 13.-14. March 2017.

Social protection is a step towards social security and it precisely addresses the core meaning of social justice. Consequently, achieving social protection requires a strong contribution from civil society and business sector, where both should uphold and integrate with the government efforts.

The two days conference was attended by representatives of international NGO’s, World-bank, and government officials from Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Finance, Central Agency for Public Mobilization and statistics, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Education, researchers and others.

The Ministry of Social Solidarity in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and FES, wanted to introduce Social Protection Floor (SPF) project to participants and media.

The objective of this activity was to build a network of supporters for SPF in the different Ministries and governmental bodies, exchange information and data of target groups. This event increased the awareness of SPF, and partners are more enthusiastic to support thus project technically and financially.
